Mornington Peninsula Wines: Cool Climate Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris by the Sea

Sea breezes, rolling green hills and small, independent vineyards: the Mornington Peninsula is Melbourne's favourite wine escape. Its elegant Pinot Noir and fine Chardonnay are among Australia's most admired cool climate wines.

What Makes Mornington Peninsula Wine So Special?

The Mornington Peninsula lies about an hour south of Melbourne in Victoria, with water on three sides: Port Phillip Bay, Western Port and Bass Strait. The maritime climate keeps summers mild and gives the grapes a long, gentle ripening season.

Most vineyards are small and independently owned, and the modern industry only began in the early 1970s. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay make up most of our Mornington Peninsula wines, alongside Shiraz and Pinot Gris.
