Italian Sparkling Wine: Crisp Prosecco, Asti & Everyday Bubbles

Say the word Prosecco and you can almost hear the cork pop. Italy is the home of the world's favourite everyday bubbles, and there is far more to its sparkling wine than you might think.

Our Italian sparkling collection is led by crisp, fruity Prosecco, joined by sweet Asti, fizzy red Lambrusco and elegant traditional method sparkling. There is a bottle here for every mood and moment. In fact, Italy now makes more sparkling wine than any other country, and Prosecco leads the charge.

What Is Italian Sparkling Wine?

Italian sparkling wine, or spumante, is simply wine with bubbles made across Italy. Most of it, including Prosecco, is made by the tank method, which keeps the wine fresh, fruity and light on its feet.

A smaller number of premium wines, such as Franciacorta, are made by the traditional method like Champagne, with a second fermentation in the bottle for finer, creamier bubbles.

Styles run from bone dry to gently sweet, and from pale, frothy whites to cheerful sparkling reds. That range means there is an Italian sparkling for every moment, from a casual Tuesday spritz to a proper celebration.
