Swinging Bridge 'Mrs Payten' Chardonnay 2023 (12 bottles)

This Chardonnay was first released to celebrate Armah’s 90th Birthday and was matured in tightly grained French Oak balancing its rich stone fruits and grapefruit characters. With this depth of flavour, flintiness and natural, cool climate acidity.

Appearance: Clear, pale lemon straw hue – visually elegant and bright.

Aroma: Green apple, white peach, citrus zest (pomelo/lemon), white blossoms, gentle vanilla with a hint of nutmeg and dusty cinnamon. A subtle smoky flintiness from oak fermentation.

Palate: Medium-bodied and smooth, with a creamy mouthfeel from lees stirring in barrel. Vibrant acidity and a fine citrus-mineral spine carrying the finish. Flavour notes include white nectarine, yellow plum, lemonade fruit, and subtle fig and nougat.

Serving Temperature: Best served at 10–12 °C—just off-chill to showcase aromatics and balance.

Decanting: Not necessary; swirl is sufficient to release aromatics and complexity.

This Swinging Bridge 'Mrs Payten' Chardonnay will pair well with Seafood: Ocean trout, firm fish—its acid and minerality enhance the pairing. Poultry & Pork: Rustic chicken pie, creamy pork dishes, rich fish such as salmon or tuna. Cheese: Mature or semi-soft cheeses; also delightful with mushroom dishes.
