These wines have been brewing up a storm in recent years, with more people opting for wines that won't leave them feeling too tipsy after just one glass. This blog post will give you the low down on low-alcohol wines so you'll know what to expect the next time you're shopping for a bottle.

First things first: what are low-alcohol wines? These types of wines have less alcohol content than most traditional wines. In Australia, only beverages containing less than 1.15% alcohol by volume can be represented using the term' low alcohol'. These wines are growing increasingly popular among the health-conscious and those seeking to enjoy a glass of wine without the potential headache. It's worth noting that the definition of low-alcohol wines may vary and be described as "light/lite" alcohol or "reduced" alcohol, "zero" alcohol or "de-alcoholised", which changes the ABV, which ranges from 0 - 10%.

You may be wondering what low-alcoholic wine tastes like. Are they sweet? The answer is that it depends. Like traditional wines, low-alcohol wines can have a range of flavours and sweetness levels. Some low-alcohol wines, like Rieslings, can have a sweet and fruity taste. Others, like Pinot Noir, can have a dry and light flavour. The best way to find out what low-alcohol wines taste is to try a few different ones and see which you prefer.

So, how is low-alcohol wine made? Winemakers use a few different methods to reduce the alcohol content in wines. One way is to pick grapes earlier in the harvest season since grapes that are picked earlier tend to have less sugar content (and, therefore, less alcohol). Another method is physically removing the alcohol from the wine after it's been made, using a process called "reverse osmosis" that will separate water, alcohol and acetic acid from wine. Alcohol-free grape products are generally produced without fermentation and are often made up of just grape juice and water.
