Yeast produces small amounts of sulphites naturally during fermentation, so no wine is completely sulphite free. Preservative free means none have been added.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eIn Australia, a wine must say contains sulphites when added sulphites reach 10 milligrams per kilogram or more. Wine Australia advises that preservative free should only be claimed when no sulphur dioxide can be measured, which is why you will also see the phrase no added preservatives.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003ch2\u003eOrganic vs Preservative Free Wine\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eThe two are often confused, but they describe different things.
